It Started 25 Years Ago…

I began my quilting journey over 25 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. I wanted to make a quilt for her, so a friend brought me to a local shop and I became a part of the Tuesday Night Quilters.

For the next several years I made quilts for friends and family to celebrate life milestones: Baby quilts, Wedding quilts, First Home Purchases, and more.

In 2017, my mother, stepdad, and uncle moved in with us to be closer to medical care. I was still taking quilting classes at the time, and my mom decided to join me. I cherish these memories since my mom passed unexpectedly in 2020, and my stepdad and uncle passed soon afterwards. It was during this time I purchased my first long-arm, and I threw myself into quilting to deal with the loss.

I continued to make quilts for friends and family until one day I was asked to make a memory quilt for a friend whose mom had passed. I had never custom made a quilt before but I understood loss so I said yes and I ended up making three lap quilts. The joy on her face when she received them allowed me to accept more requests to either start a quilt from the beginning or to finish quilting a quilt top. I love making quilts that can be used. Quilts that someone can snuggle up under while watching a movie or reading a book. Some of my beginning quilts were loved so much that they have graduated to being our dogs blankets to enjoy. I have a new passion to create not only for myself but for others and this passion is why I am starting Krista Lee Quilts. I want to help others finish their quilt tops, make quilts for their loved ones, or allow them to purchase a gift so they can have cherished memories for their families. I’m so excited to work with you to create your memories.
